4) Curriculum Leader
Learner-centered Curriculum Planning & Development
The fourth competency defines that the principal knows how to facilitate the design and implementation of curricula and strategic plans that enhance teaching and learning; ensures alignment of curriculum, instruction, resources, and assessment; and promotes the use of varied assessments to measure student performance. You are invited to click here for my blog posts related to learner-centered curriculum planning and development. Here is how I strive to meet the expectations of this competency:
- Team Leader and Lower-level Spanish Coordinator – led a team of educators in the development of a meaningful curriculum that develops learner’s appreciation of contemporary and historical context in Spanish. The courses integrated Advanced Placement approaches to teaching.
- Academy Spanish (Career & Technology Education – CTE) Curriculum Development – designed and continuously evaluated the development of a meaningful curriculum to strengthen productive and receptive communication skills based on real-world applications for passion-driven and career-oriented learners. The Academy course integrated International Baccalaureate approaches to teaching.
- Academic Deanship of Language & Literacy – evaluated and partnered with Language and Literacy educators (English Department) in order to ensure student success and passion-driven learning.
